Connie Averitt Williams is a retired teacher with a soft spot for struggling students and the families who love them. After nearly three decades in the classroom at a Christian academy in Bakersfield, California, she’s seen it all—and turned that experience into encouragement, resources, and real-life help. She’s the creator of Wednesday Winks, a weekly dose of practical tips for parents and teachers navigating dyslexia and ADHD (because sometimes you just need someone who gets it).
Connie grew up in the Midwest as the daughter of home missionaries and later graduated from Cedarville University with a degree in English, plus minors in art and Bible. Along the way, she wrote and field-tested curriculum for the Association of Christian Schools International and contributed articles to Teachers of Vision Magazine. Her middle-grade novel Right Hand Man (Journeybooks) even made the Accelerated Reader list—because yes, she’s been shaping readers for a long time.
These days, Connie is bringing her long-tucked-away stories into the light. Ants Across the Page is her first published adult fiction novel—a true labor of love, sharpened by a group of honest (and yes, delightfully tough) critique partners.
When she’s not writing, Connie is usually reading, playing the piano, snapping photos of God’s creation (and mostly avoiding chin selfies), or making gloriously messy memories with her ten grandchildren. She’s also a fan of a good game—tennis, ping pong, or volleyball—especially if there’s someone willing to play. At home, she’s outnumbered by love, including her three grown children, their spouses, and a Labrador Retriever who has absolutely no interest in retrieving.
